Panna salatini are delicious savory snacks perfect for an aperitif or a buffet. They are made with a base of white flour, whipping cream, baking powder, and salt. The dough can be enriched with olive oil to give it a different flavor. The salatini are then seasoned with zatar, cumin, sesame seeds, rosemary, or other desired seasonings. On the surface of each salatino, an ingredient of choice is added, such as an olive, a piece of bell pepper, a rolled anchovy fillet, a small piece of smoked herring or salmon, cheese, oregano and tomato sauce, a slice of sausage or a piece of sausage. Finally, the salatini are baked in a preheated oven at 250°C for about 10-20 minutes, until they are golden and crispy.
