Dark chocolate and rum truffles are delightful treats made with dark chocolate, soft butter, sugar, dry biscuits, and rum, perfect for a sweet treat or to accompany coffee. This no-bake recipe takes only 20 minutes to prepare, plus 30 minutes of resting. You can enhance them with grated orange zest or finely chopped hazelnuts for a special touch.
Start by crumbling the dry biscuits using a food processor, blend for a few seconds until you obtain a not too fine crumb. Transfer the crumb to a bowl and set it aside.
Proceed in the same way with the dark chocolate, breaking it by hand first and then blending it in the food processor until you get small pieces.
In a large bowl, mix the softened butter with the sugar. Add the rum and the previously prepared biscuit crumb, then blend again to combine all the ingredients until you get a homogeneous mixture.
Pour the mixture into the bowl and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least half an hour, so that it sets slightly.
After resting, take small portions of the mixture and shape them into balls with your hands. Roll each truffle in the bitter cocoa powder until completely coated.
Place the truffles in paper cases and serve them well chilled.
Notes
To add a special touch to the recipe, you can enhance the truffles with a sprinkle of grated orange zest or replace part of the dry biscuits with finely chopped hazelnuts to add crunchiness and a more intense flavor.
